This course covers the skills and underpinning knowledge necessary to gain employment in salons as a junior stylist. Students will be required to complete the following functional skills: literacy, numeracy, ICT (if applicable). The units they will study include shampooing and conditioning, client care, styling, perming/relaxing, reception, cutting, colouring. On successful completion of this course they could progress onto the NVQ 3 hairdressing.
Students will need to be working in a hairdressing salon as a trainee they will also need to demonstrate an enthusiastic and mature approach to learning, good communication skills and an ability to work with others. They will be required to attend a pre-enrolment guidance session.
