About this course

Overview

Our Introduction to HTML course assumes no prior knowledge of HTML or web development and provides delegates with a thorough grounding in the use of of HTML elements, page layout, text display, tables, frames and forms.

The basic HTML document

Writing HTML, Sections of a document, HTML elements, Opening and closing tags, Elements, attributes and values, The use of quotation marks

HTML elements

Inserting text, Paragraphs and line breaks, Inserting graphics, Creating links, Absolute and relative links, Creating anchor within a pages, Setting default colours, The importance of tables

Working with text

Limitations of HTML text, Formatting paragraphs, Using the Font tag, Defining the font face, Setting text size, Setting the colour of text

Working with graphics

Understanding JPEGs and GIFs, Linking to graphics, Specifying dimensions, Using low Source images, Hiding image borders, Creating Alt labels, Creating image maps

Tables

The versatility of HTML tables, Visible and invisible tables, Table rows and cells, Setting internal spacing, Backgrounds and borders, Internal alignment, Using tables for page layout, Absolute and relative dimensions

Additional entry requirements

No particular experience of using HTML is required. However, this course does require familiarity with the fundamentals of web development and the use of HTML and CSS. The ability to carry out basic computing tasks, such as saving or copying a file, is also assumed.
