In year one, the core programme of modules are in: Visual Language; Research Skills; Design Development and Techniques and Processes. This is in order to establish proper working processes for the development of individual creativity, as well as to have a broad and enriching experience. Fundamentals of visual understanding and visual communication are explored and applied. Around this core, students undertake specialist study modules. In these, they are set project work which enables them to develop specialist skills, knowledge and expertise, with an emphasis upon the consideration and communication of ideas. Year Two: In the second and third terms, students continue to be closed guided and support by their tutors in their coursework and are helped to develop the necessary abilities to enable them to operation independently and effectively as Textile Designer.
Applicants should be 18 years of age or above and have successfully completed one of the following: 1: Foundation course in Art and Design, BTEC National Diploma, AVCE or NVQ level 3 in an appropriate Art and Design discipline. 2: At least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above, including English or Maths, plus 2 A levels in appropriate subjects.
