Hampstead School of Art is a long established Art School founded under the patronage of leading artists of the post-war period which included Henry Moore. The School has maintained its tradition for the past 40 years, providing first rate instruction by established artists in a whole range of the fine and applied arts to all age groups. Students have had their work shown in leading London Galleries and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

The stimulating atmosphere of the School nurtures both absolute beginner and the experienced student alike. We have three terms in our academic year, which you can join at any time during the year.

What's on offer
Our Diploma course which is open to all students is a unique feature of the School, and growing in popularity. All of our tutors are experienced artists able to give sound artistic and practical advice to both our Diploma students and Pre-Foundation students. The Diploma Course in Fine or Applied Art is an advanced course requiring attendance of five classes per week (15 hours). At the completion of the course a moderator from a leading university or art college acts as an independent critic and adjudicator of the diploma candidate’s work. Lectures in art history and museum visits support and underpin the creative development of the candidate. Each term written reports and tutorials enable the principal and our head of Diploma students judge the progress and direction of the students work.

Our Pre- Foundation Course is designed as a preparation for entry to a foundation course in an art College or University. All of out tutors are familiar with the procedures for entry and can advise on the choice of College for students own interest and talents. During the tutorials, advice and support will be given to all aspects in preparing a portfolio and for submission to a college.
