Greenwich Community College Overview
Greenwich Community College is the largest provider of qualification and non-qualification courses in the London Borough of Greenwich. There are currently over 9,000 students enrolled on courses delivered across eight main centres and over 35 satellite centres.
The College has Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) status for Health & Social Care and Tourism and has gained the Matrix accreditation for information, advice and guidance. The college has received the Association of Colleges Charter for International Excellence and won a Highly Commended Beacon Award for International Support in 2003-2004.
The college has a reputation of working closely with the local community and was initially set up to train apprentices working at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich. The Plumstead Centre is still situated opposite the historical site which will be used for the 2012 Olympic Games. We continue to deliver training for local employers and works closely with businesses working in and around the Thames Gateway and Greenwich Peninsular including Anschutz Entertainment Group (owners of the 02).

- Education (providing courses for those currently in or looking to enter teaching including Foundation Degrees)
- ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
- Health & Social Care (including Care, Counselling, Early Years Care, CACHE and BTECs in Health & Social Care)
- Science and Technology (including Coin Slot Technology, Electrical Installation and Vehicle Maintenance)
- Skills for Life (including Literacy and Numeracy courses)
- Sport, Leisure and Tourism (including Sport & Recreation, Travel & Tourism and Tour Guiding)
- Training Solutions (providing programmes for local businesses including Train to Gain)
- Vocational Initiative Development (including Business and Accounts, Fashion, Music and Public Services)
The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) at the Plumstead centre provides a welcoming place to study and catch up on your learning. There’s a Library Zone containing over 50,000 books, DVDs and journals.
Our Computer Zone has over 80 computers and is available on a drop in basis. It has access to the Student Intranet, the Internet and specialist software. A Cyber Café is available at our Greenwich Park Centre.
Leo the student intranet is networked across College sites and contains subject web pages with information about each course and a vast range of useful online learning resources and study skills advice. Many of the online journals, encyclopaedias and databases can also be accessed over the web from home.
