In year 1 students will explore introductory topics in photographic practice and key areas of communication design; in year 2 students will begin to pursue their own creative agenda; they can also collaborate with designers in areas such as moving image, interactive design, editorial design, promotion and advertising; in year 3 students will work on individual projects to develop their professional portfolio and degree show exhibition.
Core and optional modules include: Year 1: design studies I; design studies I; typographic principles and computer studies; portfolio and end of year show; themes in the history of design for communication and media I; themes in the history of design for communication and media II; language option. Year 2: design studies III; photography in practice; careers management; contemporary issues in research; portfolio and end of year show; option module; language option. Year 3: photography in context; professional portfolio; professional practice; dissertation; degree show exhibition.
