Students will develop current and relevant project-based experience within key areas of graphic design application. They will cultivate a growing level of illustration, typography, photography, editorial design, digital media and information design skills. The programme has been designed to ensure they develop the key skills for employment and they will get to work on project briefs set by leading industry professionals. In year 1: this programme allows them to engage with degree-level studies and build upon their practical and technical skills. All first year modules encourage exploration and experimentation while strengthening technical and research capabilities. This allows them to the best practical (and eventual) settings for their work. Areas of study: illustration and printmaking, typography required for a range of printed mediums, lens-based media, digitally based media, exhibition and display design. In year 2: assignments become increasingly challenging and self-directed in year two to help enhance their skills and assist in preparing them for their final major project and dissertation in year 3. Areas of study: corporate identity and branding, typography, illustration, critical and contextual study, professional practice and industry research.
