The central aim of this degree programme is to enhance students' knowledge, understanding and practical command of the spoken and written language; language study and practice is complemented by a wide range of options that explore aspects of the society, culture, history and politics of the country in question, as well as comparative courses which place these in a broader European context; students spend the third academic year of this programme studying in Germany, providing first-hand experience of the German culture and intensive exposure to the language itself; this English literature degree programme covers a broad range of English and other literatures and incorporates both traditional and state of the art approaches to the subject.
