This course provides an introduction to the rich variety of art produced in Germany from the 15th to the 20th century: Duerer s prints and Riemenschneider devotional altarpieces, Baroque sculpture and 19th paintings by Runge and Friedrich; Expressionist works and satirical images by Grosz and Dix. Examples will be studied in terms of content, style and technique, whilst making reference to the cultural context.
