This degree programme covers three main subject areas of human geography, people and environment and physical geography; as students progress on the programme optional units covering a wide range of interests and issues in geography can be chosen, such as economic, cultural, political, medical, urban and historical geography, globalisation, ecology, hydrology, palaeoenvironments, geoarchaeology, glaciology, climatology, geomorphology, remote sensing and geographical information systems; the third year of study is spent abroad at a partner university in various European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore or the USA; dissertation work is usually related to this period of study.
