Geography is a dynamic and exciting subject of great relevance in meeting the challenges of the 21st C; if students are interested in environmental issues and like the idea of addressing problems on global to local scales, then this could be the appropriate programme; there are opportunities to attend a number of field programmes (including an optional overseas trip in the final year) to test powers of observation, field measurement and information gathering; time is spent in the laboratory, doing project work, conducting experiments and analysing data using the latest in information technology equipment.
Include: Dynamic landscapes; fluvial environments; geomorphology; coastal environments; climate change - a critical review; human interactions - learning from the past; geographical information systems; popular options taken with other departments include: civic design; sociology; archaeology; politics; history; oceanography; earth sciences; life sciences.
