Course Description
This course provides students with a thorough training in the technical, analytical and research skills and knowledge required to develop innovative, quality-assured solutions by integrating components from geographic information technologies; students develop a sound understanding of the principles of remote sensing, geographical information systems, global positioning systems, field methods and statistical analysis; this is applied practically through the use of market-leading image processing and spatial analysis software and access to probably the largest archive of satellite data held by a UK university, and to a coarse resolution satellite receiving station.
Course Fees
Funding opportunities exist, such as industrial sponsorship and School bursaries. For the majority of part-time students sponsorship is organised by their employers. Please note that a formal offer of a place on this course must first have been received before consideration can be given for funding.

Assessment method
Modules: Group and individual projects; modules: advanced geographic information systems methods; aerial photography and digital photogrammetry; geographical resource survey; geographic information systems fundamentals; image processing and analysis; physical principles and technology of remote sensing; spatial data and the internet; spatial data management.
Entry Requirements
1st or 2nd class UK Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject; candidates with significant work experience may also be considered.
Venue Description
Accommodation may be available to those undertaking certain learning opportunities and the institution will provide details. Childcare facilities are available on site. Early booking of sessions is strongly recommended due to high demand of limited places. Guidance and advice may be available for all aspects of student life. Facilities/Support are available for students with learning difficulties.
