The course introduces students to the principles and applications of geographic information science at an advanced level through the development of scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and practical experience; it provides students with relevant theoretical background knowledge and a conceptual understanding of geographic information science; it provides the social and political context of geographical data and the implications of its use, and enables students to develop skills in real-world application areas.
GISc01: Fundamentals of geographical information science, data capture and database management; GISc02: spatial statistics, programming for geographic information science; GISc03: spatial modelling, advanced geographic information science analysis; GISc04: GIS applications, social issues in geographic information science; GISc05: dissertation. MSc: complete modules GISc01-05; Pg Dip: complete modules GISc01-04; Pg Cert: complete modules GISc01-02.
