Course Description
The MBA with a general management specialisation is the classic, traditional MBA that is well suited to professional managers who want to gain an insight into the working of the various functional areas of management across the organisation, and who are looking to further their careers either in their present area of expertise and professional competence or alternatively who are looking to change career path into another organisation or to branch out into consultancy. The main philosophy of the programme id that management can be taught as a unified body of knowledge, applicable to any business organisation. The programme aims to develop the analytical skills of the course members within the context of management. These skills embody the knowledge, techniques and best practice in business administration and focus on problem identification and problem solving. Emphasis is also placed on the interrelationship of management problems and tasks. Modules include Leadership and Organisational Development, Operations Management, Financial Decision Taking, Financial Business, Accounting and Finance for Managers, Organisational Behaviour, Human Resource Management, Marketing Planning and Customer Relations Management, Management Information and Communications Systems, Business Environment, Strategic Management, Research and Project management.

Assessment method
For the day time and evening programmes each module will be assessed by means of one written assignment and one written examination or case study, except in the case of the 'Research Skills and project Management' module where assessment is related to the quality of a detailed research proposal for the project. For the executive programmes each taught module will be assed by one written assignment. Each course member must complete a project incorporating research based on primary evidence. The project presentation should be between fifteen and twenty thousand words in length.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have a recognised Bachelor degree at 2:2 or higher classification and a minimum of two years' managerial experience. Candidates must, in addition demonstrate proficiency in the English language.
