Course Description
This course is part of a series of short courses designed for people who are new to horticulture or may be employed within the industry and would like to further develop their skills, earning a recognised qualification. The concept of this course series is to explain the theory supporting a range of practical operations during short lectures and to complete a range of practical activities. Students will be entered for the City and Guilds of London Institute of Horticultural Skills tests. The course is divided into two components; the four core units and the second component of the course consist of specific horticultural topics which contain eight units of practical study. This optional unit includes contents such as Pests/Diseases and Weeds Identification and Control; Maintenance of Planting Areas; Planting and Pruning Shrubs/Hedges; Lawn Maintenance.
