This programme develops skills in both French language and mathematical reasoning; it explores French literature, culture, history and institutions, as well as how to write mathematical arguments, formulate and solve problems in mathematical terms and learn about mathematical structures; the programme includes a year in a French-speaking country, as an assistant in a school or as a student at a university where students study French and mathematics.
French includes: French language; linguistics; immigration; French cinema; the medieval world; ancien regime theatre and novel; travel literature; structuralism; negritude; Francophonie; mathematics includes: calculus; linear equations; vectors and matrices; pure mathematics; geometry of curves; number theory; combinatorics; complex functions.
