The course will suit you if you want to maintain contact with France and French culture and build on the basic French you already have. LXR122 is not suitable for complete beginners, but will be appropriate if you began studying L192/LZX192 Bon depart: beginners' French the previous November.

Assessment method
Before the residential week there will be some preparatory work to demonstrate your skills and knowledge in written and spoken French. There are also two assessed assignments: an oral assessment that you record in Caen and a piece of written work that you complete at or after the residential week. To pass the course you must pass both the oral and the written assignment, and participate satisfactorily in the activities throughout the residential school
Entry Requirements
The course will appeal to a wide variety of people who are interested in languages, who want to maintain contact with France and French culture, and who would like to build on the basic French they already have. It is a suitable choice if you want to try out some aspects of Level 1 study with the University before going on to explore further what the University has to offer, particularly in language learning but also in other areas. The course is also an appropriate choice before, or together with, the Level 1 French course L120 Ouverture: intermediate French (previously titled Ouverture - a fresh start in French), or to consolidate your skills before going on to L211 Nouvel envol: upper intermediate French (previously titled Nouvel envol). LXR122 is not suitable for complete beginners, but will be appropriate if you began L192/LZX192 Bon depart: beginners' French the previous November.
Equipment and Materials
Audio cassette recorder, to record the spoken preparatory work, which will be sent in advance of the residential part of the course. You might find it helpful to have a pocket French/English dictionary and a pocket grammar reference.
