The aims of the course are: To provide psychology graduates with experience to increase their chances of gaining a place in clinical psychology training; to provide graduate psychologists and mental health workers with an advanced level of knowledge in disorders and therapies; students gain an in-depth understanding of key psychological disorders; advanced understanding of the principles and theory behind a range of psychological treatment approaches; opportunity to undertake a clinical placement in one of the clinical psychology settings in Dorset; the opportunity to prepare an in-depth structured critical literature appraisal of a clinical psychological research subject area; and the opportunity to conduct a personal and evaluative reflection of the placement experience; the work placement for this course is 15 days.
All years: Roots and range of psychological disorders; psychological therapy; jurisprudence and organisations; advanced research methods and statistics; placement experience and dissertation.
