This course is for students who are working or interested in developing a career in computer hardware, help desk support or networking. It bridges the gap between vocational and professional qualifications and has been specifically designed to combine practical and academic skills. It covers the following in year 1: leadership, network fundamentals, ICT systems development, ICT service provision, work based project 1 and in year 2: project management, switching and wireless networking, advanced hardware and operating systems, website development, work based project 2.
Students must have a relevant Level 3 qualification (A level/GNVQ) plus 3 passes at GCSE grade C or above and a minimum of Level 2 Key Skills in Communication, Application of Numbers and IT (or equivalent) or one of the following: a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma of a good standard, Advanced GNVQ or AVCE Pass, Two HEFC modules passed.
