Course Description
This programme, of Analytical Science, within the context or Forensic Science, is about the application of scientific techniques to criminal and civil cases. The course aims to provide: understanding of analytical method; experience in handling & preserving evidence; critical analysis, choosing appropriate techniques, methods & instruments; grounding in quality control; familiarity with current literature, selecting the most relevant papers and furnishing the requisite critique; training in experimental methodology; advanced communication skills, in report writing & presentation skills. Included in the eight modules of study, is 50 days laboratory work, to complete a project and practical work. Other modules cover: Fundamentals of Analytical Science; Forensic Investigation; Instrumental Methods; Statistics & Computing; Separation Techniques; Organic Compounds and Forensic Biology.
