Forensic speech science is the application of linguistics, phonetics and acoustics to legal investigations and proceedings; the principal tasks of forensic speech analysis are: speaker comparison, disputed utterance analysis and enhancement, speaker profiling, voice line-ups, authentication and forensic audio analysis; the course combines a foundation in general linguistic-phonetic theory and method with extensive practical experience in analysis of forensic materials.
Introduction to forensic speech science; core phonetics and phonology; core language variation and change; articulatory and impressionistic phonetics; phonological variation and change; research in forensic speech science; dissertation; research training; seminar presentation training.
