Course Description
The Department of Forensic Science and Chemistry undertakes research in five main areas including: drug analysis and profiling; forensic toxicology (particularly drugs and their metabolites in hair); the investigation of fires and explosions; the application of DNA analysis in forensic science; and forensic related genetic studies and the scientific examination of historic artefacts.
Course Fees
Research fees for 2007/08: full-time fee £3675; part-time £1850; MPhil/PhD by published work: £900 initial registration plus £2475 full registration; Professional Doctorates, in Health & the Built Environment: £3325, whilst the part-time Education Doctorate (EdD) fees: £1700. The Business Administration Doctorate has an initial registration fee of £7725 (diminishing in later years).

Entry Requirements
Normally, a good honours degree in a relevant discipline and/ or alternative qualifications/ experience deemed to be equivalent. Applicants for whom English is not a first language will be expected to demonstrate a level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 or equivalent.

Childcare facilities are available on site. Early booking of sessions is strongly recommended due to high demand of limited places. Guidance and advice may be available for all aspects of student life. Facilities/Support are available for students with restricted mobility.
