This course is designed for solicitors and barristers including trainees. It aims to enhance existing knowledge, to create a solid foundation of understanding of forensic science and its application to law, including how to make best use of forensic evidence which can assist in establishing truth or guilt. At the end of this course, they will understand what a firearm is, the different categories, their forensic values, including Firearms Discharge Residue, and how these can assist the Courts after examination. They will also be made aware of what it is that scientists look for in an explosive; their constituents and the implications of a major disaster involving explosions.
