This programme provides research training in the social sciences and develops skills that are specifically related to conducting research into rural areas, the environment and food markets; it suits those who intend to progress to a PhD and/or a research career in universities, or the public and private sectors;
Core modules cover: information skills; thinking about research (puzzles, paradoxes and problems); qualitative methodology in the social sciences; quantitative methodology in the social sciences; research methods and project management; dissertation preparation; dissertation; plus a selection of optional modules from topics such as: rural society and development; rural environmental planning; environmental impact assessment; GIS and remote sensing; rural environmental policy evaluation; international marketing; agrifood industry management; food policy in the European Union.
