This course has been developed to focus on the education and training of students who want to work in the floristry industry. It will give learners the fundamental skills required to create beautiful floral designs and to help run a successful business. It ensures that they develop the vocational knowledge, understanding and skills that are required for employment in the floristry industry. It covers art and design for florists, identify, check and monitor the quality of incoming cut, identify and maintain the condition of plants and planted designs, plan, prepare and construct tied floristry designs, etc.
Students will need 4 GCSE’s A-E (including Maths, English and Science) or an equivalent level 1 qualification supported by good references. If they are a mature student without GCSE results they will need to arrange an interview so that college can assess their current skills level and support needs.
