Develops knowledge in the field of flood risk management, through theoretical, practical, and computational (informatics) components; provides opportunity for graduates, from a range of disciplines, to enhance their knowledge of the water environment, and flood risk management.
MSc: Taught modules (100 credits); work-based dissertation (80 credits); compulsory (90 credits): introduction to flood risk management; meteorology, flood hydrology, and climate change; data, and information: capture, retrieval, and analysis; flood estimation, and modelling; options for flood risk management; real-time flood forecasting, and warning systems; flood management governance, planning, and project appraisal; asset management of flood defences, and dams; and coastal flood risk; 1 module (10 credits): sustainability, and water resources; or catchment, and river modelling; PGDip: taught (80 credits); work-based dissertation (40 credits).
