Timetable
This course is designed for those who require a more flexible timetable for study. Lectures on four mornings a week with one or two afternoon sessions per week. Optional study trips once or twice a term and 2 optional field trips abroad.
Course Description
This course explores a wide range of different kinds of objects, from paintings and sculpture to furniture, ceramics and glass. Covering a period ranging from the Renaissance to the twentieth century, this option is appropriate for all those who are interested in collecting, in learning more about antiques, and in studying a wealth of European visual culture. We want to enable mature students to gain knowledge of art and the art world through participation in a structured, but relaxed environment. You will be introduced to art history and the methods and materials of making art. It will prepare you for further study and enable you to increase your expertise when collecting.
Course Fees
£8,000. Includes £250 fee for lifetime membership to Christie's Education Alumni
Assessment method
No obligatory academic work, but you are able to commit to attending four morning lectures and one or two afternoon sessions a week. Students must complete all 3 terms of attendance in order to qualify for the Certificate.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should be over twenty four and may or may not have a degree. They will be keen to learn in detail about art and the art world, to expand their cultural and intellectual horizons, working within a friendly institution with the support and encouragement of experienced tutors.
Venue Description
Christie's Education is provided with teaching spaces including five lecture rooms, and has a museum room, student common room, and Learning Resources Centre which includes a computer room, slide library, periodicals and book library. It is a short walk from Oxford Street, and Warren Street and Great Portland Street tube stations.
