For Sculpture, it is anticipated that each student ends their year in Stage 3, �Consolidation� with a self-directed practice-based action research project, realised via a placement with one of Sculpture and Environmental Art�s external partners; this project tests and investigates theoretical approaches and methods of �making�, collaboration, and social engagement in public places through practice; potential placement partners may include: Glasgow Sculpture Studios; Taigh Chearsabhagh, North Uist; Hospital Fields, Arbroath; The Scottish Sculpture Workshop, Aberdeenshire; The Pier Arts Centre, Orkney; An Tobar, Isle of Mull; the connections with these institutions and spaces operates as a unique (and attractive) element of the Sculpture pathway through the programme; it also enables students on the pathway to develop their collaborative and professional skills, through working with the demands and boundaries imposed by the external partner.
