For students on the Printmaking pathway, the emphasis throughout the programme is the development of ideas related to the techniques and applications available through printmaking media, grounded in a firm knowledge of the history and traditions of printmaking (the original, the copy, the multiple and the edition); students undertake advanced, self-directed study for 1 year based on their ability to critically engage with their ideas through exploitation of printmaking media; a lecture series and seminar programme exists to enhance and challenge the theoretical methodologies of printmaking in a fine art context and foster dialogue around the importance and relevance of the use of print in our everyday surroundings and culture; by the end of the 1-year programme, students are expected to demonstrate their learning through innovative and original means, with an emphasis on research and contextual investigation via thorough interrogation of the subject.
