The aim of the course is to develop understanding and creative potential in the visual arts; for 4 days a week student�s work in studios and workshops on individual programmes of work agreed with tutorial staff; one day each week there is a programme of historical, theoretical and contextual studies.
Year 1: 3 days per week in the studio on individual work; 1 day in introductory courses to photography; printmaking; video and computing; 1 day in contextual studies which includes the history of art and design; 1 evening in a seminar concerned with contemporary issues in fine art. Years 2 and 3: The pattern of study continues as year 1 with increasing opportunities for a choice of direction and a more concentrated focus on specific topics; n the second half of year 2 a programme of professional awareness begins on the selection of a subject for individual study and on its research; the study is completed in year 3.
