On this course students explore the relevance of drawing as a contemporary medium and the boundaries between drawing and other fine art disciplines, from traditional works on paper or canvas to video and new technologies; distinctive features of the programme are the use of projects as a vehicle for learning, andcritical sessions where students discuss their work and theassessment becomes a learning strategy; lecture and seminar-based modules with theoretical, cultural, historical and/or professional and business components provide academic rigour and a context for the practical work.
Year 1: Life drawing; site-specific drawing; contextual studies; studio practice; drawing into print making; 3-dimensional studies. Year 2: Process, surface, abstraction; related drawing practice; fine art professional practice; contextual studies; studio practice. Year 3: Studio practice; dissertation; major project and degree show; fine art professional practice.
