This programme will give students the knowledge, technical know-how and professional experience to develop a successful career in fine art. They will gain a broad knowledge of the industry including working in a range of disciplines such as painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, video, performance and photography. They will also be introduced to philosophies behind fine art, along with the relevant historical and cultural frameworks. In year 1: it is designed to allow them to engage with the culture of higher education and to equip them with the skills and awareness to develop their own creative identity during the forthcoming three years of study. They develop technical and research skills and appreciate the need for an experimental, reflective approach to their work. They will also be introduced to the relevant theoretical, cultural and historical contexts between theory and practice. Areas of study: painting, drawing, video, photography, sculpture, installation.
