If you manage a budget, department, team, project or your own business, you will need to get to grips with the financial aspects of your role.  You don’t have to be an expert, but you need some basic understanding of how it all works. Anyone in a management role needs to understand the basics of finance in order to keep up when discussing budget issues and corporate strategy. We’ll give you the skills you need to be able to handle finance with confidence.

Course overview:

• You will be introduced to the basic accounting statements – Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash flow Statements.
• You will understand about cash management.
• You will learn the various implications of fixed and variable costs
• You will also learn how to budget and forecast with confidence.
• Preparing cost/ benefit analysis and proposals
• We will also touch on the main financial variances and ratios used in business like NPV, NBV, EPS, unit costs and so on.

This course is aimed at non accountants so is stripped of unnecessary technical jargon!  It is a very practical course and the scenarios we use are real life ones.  You will need a calculator but dont worry, there will be no calculus exercises.

Your  tutor is a chartered accountant and qualified trainer.  She has many years experience dealing with non financial managers so has developed this course to be perfectly suited to those who feel uncomfortable with financial matters but have to prepare budgets and forecasts in their role.  After this course you will feel a lot more in control of the finance aspects of your role.
