This course is suitable for students who have a passion for film and would like to write their own screenplays; it develops their writing skills and knowledge of cinema, and introduces them to the art and business of screenwriting; students take a module which looks at writing for cinema; they produce a feature-length screenplay on a topic of their choice, along with a selling document and a submission strategy based on their knowledge of the market; students also learn the dramatic theory and storytelling techniques needed to turn their story ideas into a professionally-presented calling-card screenplay that has an engaging and well-told story; visiting professionals give insights into how to: prepare a selling document and submission strategy for a screenplay; get commissions; find related work in film and television; the course offers small group seminars, workshops, and 1-1 tutorials with specialist staff.
