This course is an introduction to basic sewing and pattern cutting. You will be guided step by step through the skills and techniques you need to construct your own garments. You will also be given the opportunity to adapt and customise clothing so that you can expand your wardrobe by breathing new life into vintage clothes. This course is suitable for those who have little or no experience of sewing and pattern cutting. There are classroom demonstrations and the tutor and technician give students individual support with their work. Teaching is informal and encouraging. Beginners will design and make simple garments such as skirts, tops and non tailored trousers. In one 10 week course it is possible to complete a few simple projects using some basic techniques. If you take three 10 week courses you will gain a broader knowledge of your subject and have the opportunity to complete multiple projects of greater complexity.
