This programme aims to provide students with the support, knowledge and professional experience required to enter the industry in a wide variety of areas including design, buying, merchandising, styling, retail management and garment technology. In year 1: will introduce them to new skills within design, pattern cutting (2D) and garment production techniques that will give them the firm foundation they will need for study in years 2 and 3. Areas of study: pattern cutting (2D), garment production techniques, computer aided design, theory and cultural studies, research and referencing. In year 2: expanding on their learning in the first year, further 2D pattern cutting is explored, alongside 3D draping on the stand which allows for a more creative approach. Advanced garment production techniques alongside fashion illustration and CAD are explored and they are encouraged to develop their own areas of independent research through open-ended briefs. Areas of study: advanced pattern cutting (2D), draping on the stand (3D), garment production and design, specialist computer software (Gerber), fashion illustration.
