The courses has four stages of progression relating directly to each academic year and aims to reflect the widening scope of fashion and the huge variety of career opportunities within fashion clothing. The first year introduces the student to the scope of activities and the role of a range of professional activities within the product development process. Students engage in the design process and the generation of innovative design concepts and learn the principles and techniques of construction within their chosen specialist option. The fundamentals of range planning, market and consumer trends, along with the financial and technical issues of factory production and supply chain management introduce the student to competitive advantage. Through set projects students are given the confidence to develop key skills of visual and verbal communication, analysis and observation, teamwork and self management.
