This course is for those who want to develop their fashion skills into career prospects. This work is recorded in a personal portfolio for interview purposes. This course offers high level training in creative development using strong technical skills, combined with research based production. You will explore design, pattern cutting, garment construction using industrial methods and will be given an introduction to Computer Aided Design. The workshops and studios are well equipped with industrial machinery and you will work in realistic working environments. The course includes regular visits to exhibitions, galleries and museums, and you will have the chance to show off your work at the exciting end of year Fashion Show. All students are encouraged to develop a strong portfolio to enable them to progress on to higher education. Lewisham College has strong links with higher education institutions including the London College of Fashion and Ravensbourne College. This can lead to progression onto foundation or honours degrees.
You will need four GCSEs grades A-C or equivalent fashion experience. Applicants are invited to the College for an interview and will need to bring a portfolio of art work and a record of achievement if available.
