Using the dynamic possibilities of the figure this course will explore linear and tonal drawing. Line can have many characteristics. It can be elegant, light, fast, slow and powerful depending on the media and approach. Tone provides a drawing with a sense of depth, adding atmosphere and drama through contrast. This course will introduce you to a variety of media and techniques in order to enable an exploration of light, form and linear drawing in all its variations. Working from a variety of life models over the weeks will enable you to produce fresh and lively drawings from observation. The course is suitable for beginners and non-beginners, it is taught in Art and Design studios by highly qualified and enthusiastic teaching staff. By the end of the course you will have had a good introduction to the Visual Arts and it could help you in preparation for entry onto one of our higher-level Part-time or Full-time Art and Design courses.
