This course focuses on drawing as a process for communicating ideas and thinking about form and gives you the chance to explore the qualities of oil paint and learn how to apply it, how to get effects using various extenders and how to use different painting surfaces (supports). You will be encouraged to experiment and take a free but thoughtful approach to your drawing. You will be introduced to some artists and designers who use drawing in an interesting way and use experimental methods to make drawings which communicate concepts. The course will consider line, tone and surface and you will be able to use what you learn in this class to improve your own drawing, whatever your usual style or method. There are two drawing courses with different content, using different materials and methods. You will explore the qualities of oil paint and learn how to apply it, how to get effects using various extenders and how to use different painting surfaces (supports). All the days will have different content and focus. You will be introduced to colour mixing, experimental and traditional painting methods and will learn how to get the best from this wonderful medium. Teaching is relaxed and informal with a focus on allowing you to use oils in a confident and experimental way.
