Course provides a broad understanding of sustainable development and how it can be achieved; adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating environmental science, socio-economic and policy perspectives.
Core modules: Principles of environmental sustainability, and management of sustainable development; 4 other modules selected from: ecological economics, environmental impact assessment, environmental ethics, environmental planning, rural development, atmospheric quality, water resource management, waste management and others; for MSc, students conduct a 5 month individual research project on a topic related to sustainability, chosen in consultation with the course director; includes 12 day study tour of Scotland.
