This course will help the students to identify their own difficulties and it will give them an awareness of how English sounds are formed. It will help them to improve their productive skills as well as their understanding of spoken English. It will include the following areas: Individual sounds - vowels and consonants; Consonant clusters; Weakening; The International Phonetic Alphabet and using a dictionary to check pronunciation; Stress; Rhythm; Intonation; Ear training - learning to listen and what to listen for. The course will be tailored to the specific needs of the students in the group. It is intended for students of English at Pre-Intermediate level or higher. Students will be divided into groups based on their first language.
