The English course provides a good general grounding in literature and literary criticism, and the opportunity to study English as both a critical and creative discipline; students can choose to include pathways in creative writing and film studies in their degree, and there is a wide choice of exchange programmes in Europe, Australia, Canada and the United States; the Physical Geography course offers flexible opportunities to carry out fieldwork, laboratory research and other practical activities that give students confidence in both hands-on and virtual technologies as well as traditional learning skills.
