The Foundation Degree in English Studies contains four main study strands: Literature; Creative and practical writing in a vocational context; Cornish identity and culture; Study Skills and critical approaches. Progression to local Degree courses is possible. This is an exciting opportunity to combine practical and literary elements of English with a unique regional flavour. The first year comprises of mainly taught modules which combine a variety of teaching styles. Students participate in seminars, workshops and field trips. They attend lectures, prepare presentations and engage in the active investigation of literary and other texts. The second year has two major pieces of personal study which last throughout the year culminating in the final term. The other modules are completed before Easter.
GCSE Level: Normally English, Maths and a Humanities based subject at Grade C or above. Together with one of the following: A minimum of 60 tariff points at A Level or equivalent Level 3 qualification, Access to Higher Education: Considered on an individual basis, Other: Applications from mature students without academic credentials will be considered on an individual basis, National and Advanced Diplomas in a relevant subject are accepted as a progression to a Foundation Degree and HND.
