This degree has a foundation in small-group teaching and covers a full range of literature in English combining period units with others to enable students to develop particular interests; they also run a reading group in the community or at their workplace as part of their studies.
Years 1 and 2: Introductory, training in skills and conventions of academic writing and skills and practices of community engagement; 2 broad ways of reading units; focus on poetry and Shakespeare; 2 smaller units focused on particular author and text respectively; concepts relevant to using literature in the community. Years 3 to 6: 6 period units covering everything from 16th-century drama and early English love poetry to the contemporary novel.

The course has A-Level maths as a prerequisite, but A-Level Further Maths is also advised (and in my opinion necessary, unless you're willing to do a lot of catching up). The structure of the course is built in such a way that you are not g...more
