You will find this course builds on your GCSE experience of reading and creating a wide range of texts. We read 3 texts in each year – novels, plays and poetry. We also read some non-fiction eg journalism and travel writing. Most of the texts studied are modern. The study of spoken language is an important element of this course. You will use your creativity and develop the skills needed to write in a wide range of styles for different purposes as well write analytical essays about the texts studied. English Language and Literature combines well with many other subjects, especially in the humanities, performance and media.
Average points score of from your best 8 GCSEs OR 6 GCSEs plus 1 vocational qualification (equivalent to a maximum of 2 GCSEs and 10 points) including English and English Literature GCSE at grade C.
