The course is designed for those wishing to develop expertise in the high level engineering skills and techniques associated with the information technology areas of microelectronic computer systems and control engineering; the course embraces such topic areas as electronic computer aided design (CAD), programmable logic controllers and electronics; this broad foundation in concept development is closely coupled with the opportunity to apply learned skills and techniques to practical problem solving situations.
Year 1: Analytical methods for engineers; engineering science; digital and analogue devices and circuits; electronic principles; application of power electronics; management of projects; electronic computer aided design; microprocessor systems. Year 2: Project design implementation and evaluation; electrical and electronic principles; business management for engineers; engineering design; programmable logic controllers; further analytical methods for engineers; electrical, electronic digital principles; knowledge-based systems.
