In year 1, students study analytical techniques, digital and analogue theory, electronic engineering business and computer system organization; students also have the opportunity to develop their practical skills and to study a career skills development module; in the 2nd year students take further mathematics, product design and project management; digital design and embedded systems, data acquisition and control systems, communications, real-time systems and electrical engineering, power control, and project work; the 3rd year is an optional integrated 1-year professional placement; the final year, consists of specialist study areas: digital signal processing, micro-processor systems, computer architecture, mobile communication networks, telecommunications, radio frequency electronics, advanced electrical and engineering, optical communication systems, intelligent systems and robotics and digital broadcast systems; students also undertake a project related to their chosen specialism.
