Year 1, 2 core modules introduce key concepts and skills that underpin the subject; in addition there are optional modules that enable the student to explore their interests in, for example: learning through life, early years education, adolescence, primary schools and education in Europe. Year 2: The student considers more deeply the current issues in education in a compulsory module; a wide range of optional modules allows the student to think critically about some contemporary issues: teaching, classrooms, diversity, inclusion, educational policy, arts education, the internet, global and international perspectives in education; there are opportunities for the student to carry out original research and pursue their own interests in these areas or study abroad in another European country under the ERASMUS scheme. Year 3: Further opportunities for the student to follow their own interests by selecting from a wide range of optional modules; there are also modules in each year which give the student the chance to work in schools and other educational settings, allowing the student to further develop their understanding of the nature of teaching and learning.
