Students have school experiences in each year of the course and in total spend 24 weeks on school placements in a range of educational settings; school-based experiences are in carefully selected primary schools which operate in partnership with the University; the degree is taught in English, but students who are fluent in Welsh may undertake school experience in a Welsh-medium school; students' ability to plan, manage and teach a class and monitor pupils� progress while operating effectively as part of the school team develops incrementally over the course; the course takes into account the distinctive nature of Welsh education; however, on qualification students are eligible to apply for posts both within and outside of Wales; successful completion of the course confers Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Year 1: Close focus on the curriculum in the primary school, consideration of child development and examination of strategies to support children�s learning. Years 2 and 3: students specialise in the Foundation Phase (for pupils of 3-7 years) or KS2 (for pupils 7-11 years).
